Over the last couple of months I’ve really started to pay a lot more attention to the use and meaning of words I read and hear everyday. I’ve found myself jotting down words on any scrap of paper as I come across them – prime example – autodidact – which I came across while reading recently.
Sam, who I share my office at work with, is also in on the act. He’s got a pretty good vocab and drops words into conversation that he suspects I don’t know just to get me to ask the meaning, the cheeky chap. We’ve begun creating a shared list as we discover gems like Machiavellian.
Hopefully as a result, my grammar, spelling and grasp of the English language should improve and stop word processing from eroding any literary skill I might have, we shall see! In the mean time, here are just a few of the words I’ve come across that may add to your grammatical arsenal: vacillant, lollygagging, puerile and narcissistic.
