The sun came out yesterday afternoon and I made it down to the beach. “Ah, now this feels like Miami” I thought, spending the rest of the day milling round the beach and reading. Later that evening I went down to Puerto Sagua’s, a delightful little Cuban restaurant, recommended to me by Simon and frequented by the locals. The ‘Three Milk Cake’ that was selected for me by the waitress for dessert was sublime!
It’s getting on for 6pm here Tuesday evening on the first day of the conference and it’s been a busy day so far. I got breakfast early and headed back to the Eden Roc hotel to pickup my WMC badge.
After milling round some of the exhibition stands I met a few people and spent some time on the beach before attending the South Beach Sessions – Green Standard in the Music Industry (I saw it in the schedule while I was on the beach and decided I had to go!). The panel discussed everything from DJ carbon footprints to how to run greener music festivals, it was all very interesting stuff and I got to meet some really cool people.
Chilling out for a couple of hours now then off to Cameo for Strictly Defected….
PS. Video of a beatmatching competition I walked past at Eden Roc, this guy’s got talent:
